Year 10 Work Experience

Year 10 Work Experience

Year 10 work experience 23rd to 29th March 2018

Final details

Year 10 students have received copies of the work placement details form that was returned to us and completed the pre-placement sections of their work experience logbook. Students will have brought this home so please take some time to look through it with them. If they are unknown to their work placement supervisor they will need to contact them as soon as possible before the placement (Details on the work placement form they have) and introduce themselves.

If a student is ill and cannot attend on any day of their placement, they MUST call both the employer and the school to report their absence to ensure that all students are accounted for each day. If a student falls ill during the work experience placement, the employer will contact the school in the first instance who will advise them. If the illness occurs out of school hours (before 8am or after 5pm) the employer will contact you directly using the contact information that we will provide them with.

If your work placement is closed for one of the weekdays (and you are not making up the day at the weekend) we need you to attend school as normal where a bespoke programme will be put in place for you. You can however attend in appropriate non-uniform.

Students must be punctual, dressed appropriately, and behave appropriately during the work experience period. Employers have been instructed to contact the school should a student cause concern, and will call the school should a student not arrive on any of the work experience days. Employers will write references for each student in their work experience log on the completion of their work experience week so that these can be used in year 11 when applying for post-16 courses- it is therefore vital that they have many positives to include! Students must complete their work experience logbook during their placement- this will give them a chance to reflect on their experiences and what they have learned about the world of work.

A teacher will call the workplace on the first day to check all is well and ask a few questions. They will also then arrange to make a visit later in the week to see the student and employer. If this is not possible or practical then a second call will be made.

If you have any queries about work experience, please contact Miss Mather (Work Experience Coordinator) at the school in the first instance on 01842 819501.

Kind Regards

Mr. L. Foster
